Jessie Brownie
She/Her
College Audition Coach
Jessie Brownie is an Atlanta-based performer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre from Elon University. Jessie grew up in Houston, Texas where she studied theatre and dance from a young age. She began performing professionally in grade school and began teaching and choreographing full-length musicals at local theatres by the time she was 14 years old. A year later, she made her Off-Broadway debut dance captaining the original musical Kissless. In preparation for college auditions, Jessie studied with the Houston Repertoire Ballet and began audition coaching with Broadway veterans Dave Clemmons and Hunter Ryan Herdlicka. After auditioning for 18 schools, she was accepted into one of the top musical theatre programs in the country: Elon University.
While at Elon, Jessie appeared in a variety of roles (Whatsername in American Idiot, Jennyanydots in Cats, and Lizzie in Baby, to name a few). Along with her standard courses, she also took multiple Shakespeare and audition classes, and served as a teaching assistant for Rock the Music Theatre (a class dedicated to performing pop/rock material in auditions). She ended her time at Elon with an eight-week casting director series where she refined her audition techniques with some of the top casting directors and agencies in New York. After graduating, Jessie signed with Heyman Talent Agency and performed a full-year-contract with Dollywood Theme Park.
Jessie’s goal as an audition coach is to provide updated industry insights that will help students attack their auditions with confidence and ease. As a teacher, she hopes to do much of the same while maintaining a strong focus on technique. She believes strongly in balancing passion and play as you work to find the best “you” to bring to each audition.
